إعادة تشكيل لموزائيك من المخاريط الفخاريّة من أوروك - 3200 ق.م.
مدينة أوروك القديمة كانت أوّل مدينة كبرى في بلاد سومر وقد منحت إسمها لعصر الوركاء (حوالي 4000-3100 ق.م.) وهي تعرف اليوم بالإسم العربي الوركاء. وتقع على بعد 15 ميل شرق نهر الفرات وهي موقع تنقيبات شهير.

Reconstruction of a clay cone mosaic from Uruk - 3200 B.C.

The ancient city of Uruk was the first major city in Sumeria and it gave name to the Uruk period (ca. 4000 to 3100 BC). Uruk is known today by the Arabic name of Warka. It is situated 15 miles east of the river Euphrat and is a famous location for excavations.
